Walking on the Llŷn Peninsula
Tucked away beyond Snowdonia’s craggiest peaks, the Llŷn Peninsula is a superb destination for walking with its stunning beaches, rugged coastline, and historic past. With nearly 100 miles of coastline stretching around three sides of the peninsula, you are never far from the sea, and of course many glorious beaches! The south coast of Llŷn is often referred to as the ‘Welsh Riviera’, with its long sandy beaches and calm seas. The north and western coasts are more rugged, with towering cliffs and offshore islands.
The Llŷn Peninsula is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) meaning it is protected in terms of conservation due to its unspoilt coastline. The Wales Coast Path, a waymarked path around the entire coast of Wales follows the AONB around the Llŷn Peninsula and is arguably the most stunning section for walkers to enjoy.
There are lots of walks which take in all that the Llŷn has to offer. Follow paths crossing fields with hand-forged kissing gates and passing immaculate coves, cliffs, and beaches, churches, ancient pilgrimage routes and iron age forts.
